At my house, we all love guacamole with all our hearts. It doesn’t take a week not to prepare it at least once and this excellent sauce is just one of the good things to lick your fingers that you can make from avocado. Its creaminess and mild taste make this fruit the perfect raw material for all kinds of sauces, salads and appetizers. In fact, avocado is the star ingredient of some already published recipes, the famous Cobb salad with chicken breast and avocado or this zucchini salad with white beans and avocado, avocado mayonnaise or these 4 kinds of festive appetizers.

In the following recipe, I wanted to give this fruit, so generous with the possibilities it offers us, a different interpretation. I thought of a citrus-flavored sauce, which I imagined as a refreshing breeze in the coming hot months. On the list of ingredients of this simple sauce are lemon, green onion and chopped mint, which gives it a special freshness. And because a spicy note always makes the avocado fruit stand out better, I added a drop of TABASCO® red pepper sauce to this combination.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, packed
  • 1/2 medium white onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 – 1 jalapeño (deseeded for less heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor with 1/4 cup of water and blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, add more water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  2. Eat on just about everything
